If it's looking "toasty", you may want to get it checked out

Updated: Aug 13, 2023

Hey guys, hope this new year is bringing you health and wealth. With Covid restrictions being lifted in our surrounding area, more and more construction is happening. Here in Ogden, we have been excited to be included in some great electrical projects: from home remodels, basement re-wires, and our normal electrical service calls. Things have been great, but we have been seeing some unsettling trends. One of which is improperly connected outlets.

Here's the scenario. If you notice that your electrical outlets are warm to the touch (not that you should go around touching outlets), have brownish discolored marks, or if your outlets are not working properly (they work one day and not the other), you may have an outlet that needs to be inspected for a loose wire connection: where the wire terminates to the outlet itself. A loose connection has potential to cause a fire due to arcing within the walls of your home. Why would this happen you ask? It could depend on the type of outlet that was used, or if the installer was properly trained. Either way, we wanted to share some of the warning signs and let you know that a professional fix is just a phone call away.
