Some businesses are more than a place of work — they’re time capsules of skill, personality, and tradition. Lucky Sole Shoe Repair in Lehi, Utah is one of them. Step inside and you’re greeted with the warm scent of leather, the steady hum of machinery, and a sign that sums up the humor and heart behind the counter: I can heel you, I can save your sole, but dyeing is negotiable.

Lucky Sole Shoe Repair first opened its doors in October 1997 at 173 West Main Street, right in the heart of Lehi. Founder Craig Williamson poured over two decades of skill and care into the shop, offering exceptional workmanship and a warm, old-school vibe. His son, Dax Williamson, grew up in that environment — first in the garage and later in the shop — learning how to run the equipment, greet customers, and finish a repair with expert ease. With Craig’s health declining, Dax has stepped in to carry on the family legacy. Today, Lucky Sole is in the midst of a new chapter: regular hours, undeniable customer service, and the preservation of a dying art — handcrafted shoe repair.

Our Role in the Remodel

Working alongside Industry Concrete as the general contractor — a team we love collaborating with — we focused on delivering electrical work that matched the precision and pride this family puts into every repair.

When we stepped into Lucky Sole’s remodel, our goal wasn’t just to “add power and lights” — it was to shape a space that worked as hard as Dax does, while keeping the warm, workshop feel the shop is known for.

We started by giving the building a stronger, more reliable backbone with an upgraded outdoor electrical service and sub-panel — a foundation that will keep the shop running smoothly for decades.

Specialized 240V circuits were added to feed the heavy-duty repair equipment, ensuring each machine runs at full strength without compromise.

Lighting played a huge role in the transformation. We installed SMART tech recessed LED fixtures with multiple color options, allowing the shop to easily shift between bright, clean task lighting and warmer tones that create a welcoming atmosphere for customers. We then layered in track lighting along the east and west walls to highlight work zones and add depth to the space. An extra overhead light near the sander now gives Dax perfect visibility for the most detailed repairs.

To make every movement in the shop more efficient, we added convenience receptacles, GFCIs, and light switches exactly where they’re needed — no more stretching cords or stepping away from the bench mid-project. Occupancy sensors bring energy savings without disrupting the flow. We also planned ahead, running a 120V whip over the island for a future hood.

Outside, a 100A meter base with main shut-off and grounding system improves safety, while outdoor receptacles in the back, near the fence, and along the rear wall give the space added flexibility for tools, lighting, and events.

The result is a shop that’s brighter, better organized, and built to support both the artistry and efficiency of handcrafted shoe repair — a perfect balance of function and atmosphere.

Lucky Sole isn’t just about fixing shoes — it’s about preserving a way of doing business that’s becoming rare: face-to-face conversation, meticulous handwork, and pride in a job well done. Beyond continuing the legacy of expert cobbling, Lucky Sole is also designing custom boots and building a tap house to expand its cozy, welcoming vibe. This new space will be a gathering place where the community can come together, blending craftsmanship, comfort, and connection under one roof.

Epic Electric was truly honored to work alongside this family legacy, creating a space that not only meets the shop’s practical needs but also keeps its heart and history alive. We love bringing new life and light into builds across the Wasatch Front, and this project was a perfect example of why we do what we do — because building excellence isn’t just about wiring and fixtures, it’s about helping businesses shine in a way that honors their story. Lucky Sole Shoe Repair is proof that craftsmanship, care, and character never go out of style, and we’re proud to have helped set the stage for its next chapter.
